Passionfruit is the world’s fastest growing marketing freelancer platform. We’ve raised $13.3m across a seed round and recently a Series A round from top VCs in Europe and the US (firstminute, FJ Labs, Playfair, Seaya) to change how people and businesses work — and we’re just getting started.

Our first product has been a marketing freelancer marketplace, and our customers include PepsiCo, Mars, Conagra, Wayfair, Speedo, ABinBev, HSBC, ADT, Empire Today, Inflection AI, Miro, MSCI, SAP, Plaid and hundreds more

In a nutshell we are creating a genuine and robust alternative to full time work, by creating a platform for anyone who wants to work, learn and earn as a freelancer.

Right now, 70% of freelancers are men over the age of 45. This is because they are the ones who typically have the relationships and Rolodexes to get consistent well paying work as a business of one.

For the rising generation of workers, freelancing is a pipe dream or at best a hard slog. Even for the well connected that do “go freelance”, it’s an unpredictable life. Many try and end up having to return to full time work.

Passionfruit makes that freelance career choice sustainable and rewarding for everyone who wants it, long term.

In doing so, we have a huge opportunity on the other side of our marketplaces: to change the way that businesses operate their Marketing departments.

The Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly intelligent and ambitious individual to build a career in finance within a fast-paced tech environment. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will receive unparalleled mentorship while gaining a 360-degree view of a scaling international business.

The foundation of this role is to ensure our day-to-day financial operations run smoothly and accurately. However, we are looking for more than just a numbers person. The ideal candidate will have the analytical rigour to assist with the review of commercial contracts and the confidence to discuss clauses and potential risks. This is a hands-on role that offers a unique blend of core accounting and strategic commercial exposure.

Who you are

• Essential:
  
  • An outstanding academic record from a leading university, demonstrating a first-class analytical and logical mind.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. You must be comfortable manipulating data and have the aptitude to quickly learn financial modelling techniques.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a highly organised, methodical approach to your work.
  • A confident, energetic self-starter with a proactive attitude and a desire to take ownership and solve problems.
  • A genuine interest in building a career in finance within a high-growth business.
• Desirable:
  
  • A degree in an analytical discipline (e.g., Law, Economics, Maths, Sciences) is highly valued, as the ability to apply structured thinking is paramount.
  • A desire to become a qualified accountant.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, particularly Xero.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Operations: Taking ownership of core accounting processes, including preparing invoices, managing accounts receivable and payable, and performing bank reconciliations.
2. Month-End Reporting: Playing a key role in the month-end close for our UK and US entities, responsible for posting journals, performing debtor and intercompany reconciliations, and assisting in the preparation of management accounts.
3. Commercial & Contract Support: Assisting the Finance Director with the review of new commercial agreements (e.g., client and supplier contracts), flagging key financial terms and potential areas of risk.
4. Process Improvement: Analysing current financial workflows to identify inefficiencies and supporting the FD in designing and implementing more robust and scalable systems.
5. Financial Analysis: Supporting the FD with ad-hoc data analysis, updating financial models, and helping to prepare reports for the leadership team.
